dr650 footpeg springs
The local Suzuki dealer was able to get me a set of DR650 pegs. They
are an improvement. I think I would also like to get the springs.
The dealer can't seem to find the part number. Seems odd since their in
the biz.
Can anyone provide me with the Suzuki part number for the DR650 peg
springs?
Thanks

From the FAQ: *Where can I get better footpegs?* The stock KLR pegs are good for the road, but get very slippery offroad when wet or muddy. There are a few options for replacements: - KLR250 pegs, a cheap option if you can find them from a salvage yard - DR650 steel pegs (1995 or equiv), which fit right on the KLR brackets. You need 1RH front footrest, 43550-44B10-019; 1 LH front footrest, 43560-44B10-019; and 2 springs, 09448-15008. The Kawi pins will work fine, although they are a little smaller in diameter than the DR pins. If you want to use the DR pins (p/n 09200-10008, 2 req'd), you will have to drill out the KLR peg brackets. - IMS Super Stock and Pro Series pegs, probably the priciest but most aggressive. After installing my DR650 pegs, I found out they make 2 different
varieties. Wide and Narrow. I have the narrow ones.
Wide part numbers from Ron Ayers:
43550-14D30
43560-14D30
Narrow:
09448-15008 - spring, need 2 of them
43550-44B10-019 - RH Peg
43560-44B10-019 - LH peg

I, too, have the narrow pegs and like 'em. With just a day's practice I was able to get my MX-booted foot under the stock shifter without a problem. Hi Joe, Any idea how wide is the wide peg and how narrow the narrow peg? When Jeff bought his, (and mine) two years ago, we bought at least 4 sets and were not aware at the time that there were two varieties of width. revmaaatin.> 5a3a38 > > Joe > >

One of the additional benefits of the DR650 pegs is the decreased apparent transfer of vibrations to the rider. Both Jeff Saline and I felt an immediate improvement in 'perceived' vibrations being transferred to our feet after we installed the DR foot pegs. Others comment-perception? revmaaatin. 25 days since I felt the vibration of the foot pegs, and some 31 days more of the same> with the wide pegs. > -- > Blake Sobiloff > http://sobiloff.typepad.com/blakeblog/> > http://sobiloff.typepad.com/klr_adventure/> > San Jose, CA (USA) >

The narrow ones are 1 3/16" wide. I'm not sure on the wide ones. I'll
try to get Casey to reply. He has them on his bike. They look to be
about 2" wide or so...
Joe
The narrow are a great improvment

a universal exhaust idea
Hey KLRistas,
Has anyone considered using this universal slip-on muffler from FMF?
MegaMax II 4 Stroke Muffler: $190 + tuneable sound/backpressure +
has a quiet core + spark arrestor + lightweight
http://www.denniskirk.com/jsp/product_catalog/Product.jsp;jsessionid=
NLI4XL50QUNJPLA0WTISM4VMDK0NCIV0?
skuId=447688&store=Main&catId=109&productId=p447688&leafCatId=10902&m
myId=
On FMF's web site, they also offer the MegaMax for 1993-1999 KLX650.

I'm attracted to this because of cheap price and better, but still
quiet sound. A gain in torque/hp would be nice, but its secondary; I
really don't need it. The Supertrapp and Big Gun cost more, most
people say they're too loud, need repacking often and gets easily
damaged in a fall. That leaves the Laser Pro Duro and Staintune at
about $460 each = 10% of the value of my bike = too expensive. For
the price of a Pro Duro, I can get the MegaMax and still have $270
change left for a fork brace ($130), lowering link ($70) and a new
rear spring from Elden Carl ($65).
If I lived in the US, I'd try this out right away. But I live in
Australia so before I pony up the $$$ for the muffler + freight +
taxes . . . . My questions to the group are: Has anyone tried
universal type mufflers on their KLR? Any tips on how to mount it?
What's the FMF build quality like better than Supertrapp? Will a
KLX650 exhaust bolt on to the KLR650? This whole idea seems too
easy what am I missing?
TIA for your comments.
