If you've owned this bike since '94, you should be telling us A6F guys what sizes you need for the job. LOL Don, R100, A6F

stator cover question

Post by l00setooth » Sat May 06, 2006 4:30 pm

I have an 1988 KLR650 that I bought from a someone who was trying to repair the bike but didn't have any success. The stator cover was busted by a rock and he replaced the cover, I just dicovered the cover he placed on here was a 1986 kl600 stator cover. I know the covers are the same part number but the problem I am having is that he didn't place the stator dampner and plate in this cover before he put the motor back together. The reason he didn't is the pieces would not fit. Now I notice that on the KL600 it didn't take a stator dampner and plate. Do you think its ok to use this kl600 cover on a klr650? What is that dampner for anyway? Or should I just find the correct cover? Thanks, Loose Tooth
