I think "Little Fauss and Big Hasley" [url=http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0065989/http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0065989/> West

How about "Little Foss & Big Hollesy" ( I think that was the title) with Robert Redford. It covered m/c racing (dirt & road) in the '70s. Big was the handsome womanizing user & Little was the used guy doing all the dirty work. In the end Little comes out on top & wins a road race out in California. Hokey, but fun to watch with all the old bikes. I think they actually had some cameo rolls for actual racers. chain alignment

Post by John Deikis » Thu Feb 23, 2006 11:12 pm

Probably a dumb question, but I could use the advice of experience... Replaced my chain and both sprockets the other night with a fresh set. With the rear axle "hash marks" set equally from side to side, the chain looks to be a bit out of alignment. When I wiggle things around so the chain looks like a straight run from the rear sprocket to the front one, the hash marks are about 3/4 "notch" different from the right side of swing arm to left side. I'm inclined to line up the chain and ignore the hash marks, realizing that maybe my swing arm is a little bit tweaked. Seems like that way the chain is not being stressed and the rear wheel is pretty squarly straight ahead. Opinions/advice welcome. Thanks. John

Most of the bikes that I've owned have had similar alignment "issues". You're doing the right thing. --John Kokola John Deikis wrote:

I doubt your swingarm is tweaked. The adjusters are notoriously vague and the hash marks frequently fail to line up on a properly aligned rear wheel. -- Blake Sobiloff http://sobiloff.typepad.com/> San Jose, CA (USA)
