"Dust to Glory" is a movie about the Baja 1000. "Long way around" was on cable etc and may be gotten in dvd form, I believe. About 12 hours long. Alan Henderson A13 Iowa if a stock original VW Bug can run the 1000 surely a KLR650 could do it

another question

Post by gwing86 » Fri Feb 03, 2006 8:06 pm

I really do appreciate all the advice, help and info I have picked up in the KLR and dual sport groups. First it was what kind of bike to look for my riding needs. Then I received many tips on where to look and how much I might expect to pay for a good KLR. After I got my ride there were many maintenance and upgrade questions. There are some really unselfish folks in this group who have taken the time and effort to document their solutions to these issues. I have picked up a couple things on my own to add and hope to do so this winter but with the weather as good as it is I just can't make myself use any spare time for anything but riding. Yeah I know. That's a selfish attitude but I just can't myself. I do have another question. After the doohickey upgrade and some other adjustments my bike seems to run smoother and quieter. Now I hear a noise which seems to come out of the right side of the engine. It seems to be louder when I lean over the right side anyway and sounds kinda like marbles rattling around in a metal can. I only hear in a no load condition at 3400-3800 RPM. I suspect it is the camshaft chain. The question is, is it a critical condition or is it relatively safe to ride till we have bad weather and I can repair it when it's to bad to ride. Any thoughts are appreciated.
