Is anybody using the Odessy PC545 battery? What were your results and how
did you make the new, longer cable? Add ot the exsisting or replace it?
Seems like with the PC 545 laying on it's side it would be easier to use
jumper cables and a battery charger with the big clamps. Oh, and Happy New
Year to everyone.

Bill,
The only cable I needed to lengthen was the small (+) control wire. I just made up a short male to female jumper and plugged it all together.

Guy,
Does the black plastic cover thing you have in your hand in the picture
still get used to retain the battery?
Thanks,

Yep.
It doesn't fit under the slots on the top of the box, but it still works fine to retain the battery.
I've though about using a heat gun to form the top bend to confirm to the battery a little better, but that hasn't happened yet.

Guy,
Thanks for the reply. I've heard of that issue with the Yuasa wet cell
battery too.

Jeff,
The battery is also slightly narrower that the OEM, so I used some thick rubber webbing on the LH side to act as a shim. Just a little added insurance to keep it from shifting around.

buzzing gas tank?
Completely normal. When the fuel tank gets warm it vents and you can hear it.

I need a little help figuring out a noise...
I rode 120 mi. to and from a dirt park where I had a modest left side
fall into dirt (not gravel) that scraped but didn't break the left
rad shroud. No rocks in fan, no coolant leak or bending of rad I
could see (have HT rad/res guard), no noises. Started right up, rode
a couple of hours then came home, usual performance and milage.
When I parked the bike at home, it was a little over mid indicator on
coolant temp, no leaks. I turned off the engine, took off my earplugs
( wear on road), and I heard an odd whining noise like the sound of
an outdoor AC unit far away. Turned on the key, no change, left key
on, fan was not moving, but would freely spin, with no vibration felt
when I touched the fan blades or fan motor, turned off key.
I walked aound the bike and thought this noise was near the fuel
tank, as if it had a small pump ( I admit it, I own a prototype EFI
KLR - not). I popped open the gas cap and the noise stopped. I closed
the gas cap and in 20-30 sec. the noise returned. I alternated this
with banging my head on a post about 8 times and I'm still not sure
what and of what significance this noise is/has.
? vent ?cap ?leak (no fuel smell though)
Its probably simple but I'm at a loss. TIA
