Well it was a nice "brisk" day here - mid 60's - and I finally got out
on my bike which has been sitting patiently in my garage while I got
my new gear together over the past week or two. Been about 5 years
since I'd been on a bike so the first few miles were a bit hectic but
the old habits came back quickly! I had thought about a lot of bikes
but am glad I picked the KLR! I did about 120 miles round trip:
- about 60 miles on winding two lane road to friends farm
- fooling around off road riding though fields at farm
- went back home on highway 70mph then stuck in stop-n-go traffic (nice radiator!)
- took shortcut home down 10mi of gravel road
I like my KLR!

Other than a few pressure spots in my new helmet I
need to work and maybe packing some warmer cloths next time it was a
joyful day. Stress? What stress?

Hope everyone else had a good weekend ride - its nice to be in the
saddle again!

WELCOME BACK!! I once took a 4 year sabattical from riding, and I
don't know how I stayed sane during that time. After I had gotten
back on the bike, I took an MSF advanced rider course, and glad I
did. I had the only "dirt bike" there. (My first KLR, don't sell
this one, you'll only regret it and buy another!!)
Smile, and ride safe my friend....

Bill and James have sung the praises of California's Lost Coast and
its time for me to see why. The KLR is serviced, packed and the Corbin
road sofa installed. By 0800 I expect to be sitting down for breakfast
in Truckee and by sundown Friday I expect to be camped somewhere
between Eureka and Ft. Bragg two spend two wondrous days exploring a
land I've never seen with Monday for the journey home.
I have been so needing this trip since the Bass Lake 250. Tha weekend
I needed a ride that was almosat as good as sex and it was anything
but. Worked as had me so wound up I so am overdue for a long weekend
of redlining the fun meter just to getback to normal. So here's to
four days of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness aboard the
greatest transmorgrifrier yet to be designed, and if you don't know
what a transmorgrifrier is you need spend more time buried in your
Calvin and Hobbs. If you've ever seen the John Wayne movie Red River,
come tomorrow morning its going to be the YEHAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!! scene
all over.
