Thank you all for your responses to my prior questions. New question. I have recently installed a 1 1/2" lowering kit on my 03 KLR650. The kit instruction also said to lower front forks 1 1/2" too. I was told from the retailer (I purchased link from) not to lower front forks if you have fork braces on bike (RE: fork braces can damage front fender if you lower forks 1 1/2"). Has anyone installed a lowering kit without lowering front forks? Does anyone know if it is dangerous to not lower front forks with a lowering kit? I have purchased fork braces but have not install them yet. If you have installed fork baces on your bike, was there a noticeable improvement in handling with the fork braces, VS without fork braces? Does anyone not recommending putting on fork braces? Your reply is greatly appreciated. -Karl

I installed a Happy Trail fork brace after riding my new 03 approx. 1000miles. It definitely made a difference - especially when riding aggressively in the dirt. Another huge improvement is installing Progressive front fork springs. All the lowering of the front does is even out the bike. Some guys like the front -high look and handling any way. It doesn't take much to make a KLR look like it is going up hill if the rider is a little porky (no insults intended-I'm no light weight myself) the back end kind of squats anyway.

Yup, the front sprocket wears much faster than the chain of rear sprocket. As I mentioned, I changed the small guy at 10k miles; maybe now at 22k I should do it again and see if I can make 30k for the trio - WD-40 only, of course. Bogdan
