Hey listers, I've run across a KLR 650 for sale. Don't know specifics such as year or model, but it looked to be well maintained and I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw that the odo registered 50+k miles. The price tag read $2300.00. Too much? Tell me whachoosay. Jim

Probably someone on the list...I think the list would agree that once we decide to ride our singles past 25-35K we're kissing resale value goodbye. In other words, we intend to ride it till it drops. I'd pass...you can find low mileage KLR's for $2,500 - $3,000 without much trouble... Kurt

WAY too much. I have that much invested in 3 1/2 bikes, all with less miles! Try $500. Mark B2 A2 A3 B2 organ donor

Exactly right. And when it drops it'll still keep us company in the role of parts bike. Bogdan

I will soon be buying my first klr. I am considering a 2001 with 8500 miles on it. Is that a lot of miles for a klr, or can I expect to still get many miles and years out of it?

Buying from a dealer or from a private party? Private party is better as you can interview the owner and place his or her maintenance habits under close scrutiny. As for the KLR, an abused and unmaintained bike with 8500 miles will have one foot in the grave. A gently ridden and carefully maintained bike will have many years of service left. RM

Debbie I have a 2002 new since April 10,2002 and have about 6000 miles. It is just now broke in good. I am enjoying it very much and expect to see the 100,000 mile mark in less than 4 years. I ride about 2000 per month or better. Good luck TC

front brake hang up

The front caliper is the model of simplicity, only one moving part, the piston. You can take the piston out, remove the seals, carfefully scrape out the gunk that accumulates in the outer grove and then stick it all back together. Don't put anything but brake fluid on anything in the brake system for lubricant. I have had good luck reusing both outer and inner seals but they only run about four bucks each if you want to replace them. mudslinger8883 wrote:--- In DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com, "mudslinger8883" wrote:
