tranny failure

Post by Jeff Jones » Mon Oct 10, 2005 12:08 pm

Howdy listers, I was on the Advrider ride down to Creel, Mexico for the Horizons Unlimited meeting. About 100 miles south of the border, my transmission stuck in 3rd gear. Luckily, I was almost back to pavement and made it to the town of Huachinera in Sonora, Mexico (check out their website at www.Huachinera.com). Mike T. aka Lasvegasrider was along and we pretty much came to the conclusion I was f**ked. The townspeople are very pro moto tourism and arranged for a municipal pickup truck (also used as a police vehicle with a red and blue lightbar) to take me back to the border at Agua Prietta/Douglas, AZ. From there, Steve Phillips of Southwest Adventure Tours (www.BajaByMoto.com) picked me up and gave me a ride from Douglas, AZ to Tucson, AZ where my truck was stashed. I'd never met Steve before he picked me up and he wouldn't take a dime. The helpful people on this trip were awesome. But back to my bike. I'm ASSuming I'll have to pull everything out and split the cases. Anyone have anything else to try before I pull everything out? Jeff Jones who's never worked on a m/c tranny before
