--- You mean it's not "just" you... The fact that you hang on a board where there are several people who bash a beginner's bike isn't much of a defense. You'll notice from the responses that you got to your post on this board that the people here are a little different. That's one of the things I really like about this board. It certainly isn't the software. It's the quality of the members. Different from any other board I frequent, including other KLR boards.

Hello,
Can anyone tell me the principal modifications made to the California
spec bikes and if it affects performance etc. I live in Vancouver,
Canada, but have the opportunity to buy a KLR from San Francisco, but
I don't want one that's had its performance affected by smog control.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but the only thing I found was
the carbon canister and vent tube on the tank. At least this was what
I found on my 2000. I did de-californacate the bike 3 years ago, I
live in NM now, and didn't really notice a big change. MPG and speed
look about the same.
