Hi All, Searching the archives is not helping me in identifying a economic yet good solution for a helmet-phone system, cell phone system. I am searching the google , but any hands on practical experiance in here ? I just want to be able to answer or make a call while riding, well making a call is not that important, but answering one is..... any suggestions.. budget is 100.00 bucks. kfali

My advice is don't do it unless you're going to pull over to talk. Cagers on phones are dangerous enough to riders--why reduce your concentration and risk your life for a phone call? __Arden

Check your phone's owner's manual. Most hands-free headsets allow the phone to automatically pick up the call and hang up. Even my ancient Nokia 5100 works like that with a hands-free headset, which cost me less than $5 on clearance. I never dial out, but I have received calls while rolling and it works well. I dream of a day when..... (some will hate me for this) I am certain the techno exists for this right now, but putting it all together seems prohibitive: A constant sattelite connection for sat phone in the event I go down in the middle of nowhere, with Eperb so the wife/authorities can find me if I am late/incapacitated Internet connection, with same 5" LCD I would use for my GPS, with TV out feed for boring rides like the plains states, I could check Email, send a recieve IM (voice/to/text enabled) coupled with my Ipod, coupled with a 40 channel CB, all piped through my Sony ear buds, with voice command for switching from one program to the other. If I had this, I could increase mileage, and except for human intake/exhaust, I would never stop... --- Tengai Mark Van Horn wrote:

Or you could sit on the bike in the garage with a scenic DVD playing on your flat screen TV with the lawnmower running outside to simulate the KLR sound. __Arden

Sounds like the setup Ewan MacGregor and Charlie Boorman had for their "adventure". Mark

lol, somehow I have never noticed you were in Iowa Alan. Thats some pretty flat country out there. I am always blown away by the roads that stretch in a strait line all the way to the horizon. Around here in the mountains, with logging trucks and RV's everywhere, you could not get away with taking your eyes off the road for long enough to check Email, but there are a few chunks of Kansas and the Dakotas where you could play a full game of Doom3 before you needed to look up.
