Does anyone on this list watch Two Wheel Tuesday on the Speed Channel? They ran an interesting piece the other night about a fellow who is taking a Yamaha RZ1 sports/touring bike around the world. Was an interesting story. Because when you first hear about that you think "sports bike? Why not an adventure touring bike?" - lord knows there are many bikes capable of that kind of riding... And they asked the guy that, and his answers were interesting. They showed the guy all bogged down in mud in south america with his RZ1... The guy claimed his street tires acutally perform BETTER in mud than knobby tires of dual sport bikes. The funniest part of the story (for me) was when he was forging a stream - engine fully underwater. The guy gets out of the river. RZ1 is totally stalled out. The guy stars cranking the RZ1 and the camera focuses on the exhaust pipe. "glub glub glub" goes the exhaust pipe. Water is just POURING out of the pipe. And then?? Zzzzzzzzzzzzzoooom, the bike fires up and all you see is steam pouring out and the guy zooms off again. Very cool feature and I apologize for not remembering this fellow's name. Erik, Your comment puts me in mind of a friend who used to own some oil-patch companies, and drove Lincoln Continental two doors - you know the ones: big, long and powered by 460 cu in V8s, and he'd get a new one every year. He would drive these monsters down pipe-line right-of-ways as if they were 4x4s! ...and never got stuck! I sure wouldn't have wanted to own one after him! Ed

Those old Detroit tanks could do a whole lot more than you'd think. Heck, even the smaller ones could. I regularly took my Chevette onto beaches with deep sand, for example. As long as you kept your speed and momentum up, you coould just "surf" the car through the loose sand to get to the firm part near the water. I only got stuck once, when some turd in a 4x4 cut in front of me and forced me to veer into some ruts. Somebody else in a 4x4 hauled me out, so no harm, no foul, but the point is that you can get into some pretty amazing places even with the most pathetic of vehicles, as long as you don't give a **** about tearing it up (which defines a Chevette big-time . -E

Dang, I would have liked to have seen this. I do happen to have three clips from the movie, including the water scene mentioned, that someone sent to me as email attachments. How can I make these accessible to the list? I'm pretty sure I can't send an attachment to the list. Lost my instruments riding in Copper Canyon. Turned out to be a connector hidden in the black cover under the speedo/tach. I don't know if any of my other things were not working, but had no tach. Pushed the plug together, and zip tied it!

Exactly! I have seen a lot of features on two wheel Tuesday. But the one about the guy going around the world on a Yam RZ1 sport bike really takes the cake. Those Tuesday night 2wheeler shows on speed channel are the Best. I watch 'em all. Two Wheel Tuesday, American Thunder and Corbin's Ride On.
