no headlight on start-up, a18 low miles

Post by fasteddiecopeman » Tue May 24, 2005 7:55 pm

Out camping, lots of rain and wind. Start the KLR - no headlight, high or low beam, but the 'blue' highbeam warning was ON, and the tail-light ON too. Fuses all check out OK. Next day, started bike - lights, warnings, etc ALL OK. Anyone experienced this?... or any idea what the problem is? Thanks. Ed

Had the same problem going to work on a humid foggy morning. Headlight went off and high beam indicator came on. Started working the next day also. Mine is an 89 with about 35K. Will double check the connectors. No answers yet. - Bill Holton Pearland TX Subject: [DSN_KLR650] no headlight on start-up, A18 low miles Out camping, lots of rain and wind. I had the same problem, turned out to be the head light socket. Replaced it with one from a car. Dan

sounds like your headlight plug ist kaput. Look in the FAQ's for the part number for the upgraded plug number and manufacturer. when my plug died, i discovered that one wires to the bulb clips inside the plug had pulled out and was not fixable without destroying the plug. it's a lot of fun to lose your headlight on a twisty mountain road at midnight. buddy bseifert71@...
