replying to the group?

Post by service@jpalton.com » Tue Apr 12, 2005 9:17 am

Hi I have a question about replying to messages on this group. With every other Yahoo group I belong to (several Jeep and diesel groups), when I reply to a message it automatically goes to the group. But here, when I reply to a message it goes ONLY to the person who sent the post I'm replying to. I checked around and I can't find any settings to adjust for this...any thoughts? I'm using my web site's e-mail server and I get messages through Outlook Express. Jim [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

It's the group's individual settings, overriding the default of most other list mailers. The way to work around it is to simply click on 'reply-to-all' , then you have the original poster and the group address. You next have to blank the poster's address and cut/paste in the group address to the To: box.

Jim: For some reason someone has set this site to reply to sender as default. I think default should be to the group, but that is my opion. When you reply there is a drop down box in the "TO" address box. You have to change it there when you want to send to the group. Right or wrong that is the way it is.

If Outlook Distress doesn't have a 'Reply All' button, go to http://www.mozilla.org and download the Thunderbird email client. It does have a 'Reply All' button and when you click on that button, will put both the individual user and the group's EMAIL addresses into the 'To' or 'CC' boxes. Besides, the only virus that Outlook Distress doesn't spread is AIDS, and I understand that Microsoft is working on that one... -E

Steve Green an occasional member of this list dispatched me to post the letter below. Bogdan subject - Your stance towards OHVs Dear Moab Business Owner, There was recently a letter sent to the Governor of Utah by Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance (SUWA) in which your name was listed on the signature line. The letter made a clear stance against OHV use of Utah back country roads. I am an off road motorcycle enthusiast who greatly enjoys the back country where my motorcycle can take me. I do not abuse the land or other users' rights, and in turn I expect the same. I am a responsible back country user who leaves the areas I visit in better condition than when I found them. When I see that you are in opposition to my sport and the use of the public lands for all citizens, then I find it impossible to support your business. I realize that you may not even know that your name was used in conjunction with the SUWA letter sent to Governor Huntsman thus I am writing you to make you aware of this fact. The SUWA letter written to the Governor is currently making the rounds on the internet, that is how I became aware of it. At this moment there are many OHV enthusiasts who are planning to boycott your business. If you signed this letter without realizing the implications, of if your name was used without your consent, I strongly urge you to correct the situation. I for one cannot patronize businesses who are against my favorite sport and means of travel. I plan to boycott your business and to pass along this information to all who may be interested. The SUWA letter and signers can be found at this link: http://www. suwa.org/library/Final_Huntsman_ad.pdf Sincerely, Steve Green Littleton, Colorado Yahoo!
