It's only a couple of degrees above freezing over here, but I can't wait
any more, so I'm trying to ride my 2004 KLR. When I try to ride the bike,
with the choke on, as soon as I start to release the clutch, the engine
wants to stall, but moves forward gingerly. When I try to give it more gas,
it bucks and hesitates. Eventually, it will respond. As the engine warms
up, after riding it for several miles, I can't turn off the choke because
it will die.. Still, I dread coming to a full stop, because at every launch
from a full stop, I have to be super careful releasing the clutch.. too
quickly is stalls, too slowly it stalls... and worst of all, I can't bring
the RPM's any higher cuz when I give it gas, it stalls.. Plus, as it idles
at a red light, it's revving at nearly 3000 rpm and people look at me like
I'm nuts! I've heard about the bike coming set too lean from the factory
and have read the Big Cee FAQ file, and checked out Mark's illustrated
procedures, however there are no pics on how to do this modification to the
carb, if indeed this is the problem. Any ideas and links to photos would be
greatly appreciated.. It's embarrassing riding like this.. it's like riding
a bucking bronco!

changed grips today
A trick I learned many moons ago. Use hair spray when putting grips on. You have to be quick though. Get everything ready, and with hairspray in hand spray the inside of the grip, and slide it on. The hairspray acts as a lubricant (simply because it is wet) and when it dries, it is like glue.
