Ya know, Kawasaki would show their brilliance (yeah right...) if they brought back a KLX version (hummmm a DR650 with Kawi tags) and upgraded the KLR color scheme. Enough with the silver already. Bleeeeeeeech! Patoooooo-y! Might as well go mat-black...oh...that's passe too! How bout a KLR in gloss Black! Ohhhhhhhhh! with yellow trim for '03, lime green trim in '04, red trim in '05, then come out with a Lime green/black version, and then, think of it, an updated graphic of the cool looking white/blue/green of the 90-93 models!! I'd by a new one every year! The KLX should be in standard dirtbike colors, either the lime green or a possibly the old white/green/blue trim fitting a sportier model. They'd sell a bunch. I think Kawi blew it BIG TIME with the KLX back in '95-'96 with those lame teal/orange/black/combo's. Geeeez. Who did THOSE designs? Anyway, while some of you are awaiting the return of a polar white KLR, 'ol Swampy is waitin on a Black an green machine! But with Kawasaki, that would be too much to ask for.... I'd by a new one every year! Let's skip the green. Heck, get over the green. Too much bloody green out there. You would think Suzuki would have learned by now! Ever notice the yellow/black DR400S stagnates on the showrooms for months at a time but the white/blue verison of the same bike doesn't stay put for more than a few days? They can't even keep the white/blue in stock! I wonder how many more sportbikes they would sell if they could get rid of those hideous Muzzy colors (green/purple/white) and get on with it. KLR's aren't much better. I avoided the '00+ models and went for the much better looking '99. Same bike, but the colors are crap... Unless you happen to be a military wanna-be or a hunter. At the very least it wouldn't cost much for them to inject at least two or three different colors of plastic for each bike. Why not? You can get different colors for the regular bikes why not the dirtbikes/Dualsports? That way the Tacker Vordenburgs could have their Ranger Green while others could have something else.

Ahh yes as the colours change with the years, who can forget the subtle Kale blue/green of the 96 97 98 and 99KLRs and how Kawasaki stood the motorcycle world on its head with the introduction of the millenium ushering Collard green A14.The direction then changes from the primitive cabbages to the "newer" more complex species as the silver tanked A15 bears a strikingly uncanny resemblance to the Cauliflower.Perhaps 2003 will see the liberal application of Suzuki yellow cheese sauce? ......cosmo (yeah I left out that mid-90s eggplant era)

I'd pull off the mods, sell them on eplay, list a stock '03 with 11K for $3.6K firm, my opinion FWIW. --Jim A-15

I have to say a fair price would depend if I was selling or buying. If I'm selling it is worth a lot more than if I'm buying. Really hard to say not knowing the condition of the bike, what the mods are and where the bike is. From what I've seen there isn't much diffrence in the 01,02, and 03's prices so you might want to keep it a couple more years.

A thought: If you go to the Ebay page for KLRs, you can do a search of listings that have already expired. You only get the last 14 days or something, but it can give you a good idea. If you have the time, monitoring that for a month or so will make you pretty informed. While it's true that ebay is a weird subsection of the real world, I feel like it reflects the something-is-worth-what-someone-else-willing-to-pay more than Cycle Trader ads etc. where you only can tell what the seller thinks its worth. FYI, I just bought an 03 (off Ebay, after seeing it first) with 8k miles on it. It's got happy trails racks and aluminum bags, a moose skid plate, happy trail "nerf bar" crash bars, tall and stock windshields, and came with an extra set of new OEM tires and spare tubes and some miscellaneous parts. I paid $3900 delivered. From researching Ebay i feel like I got a good price, but not a steal... and the accessories are worth about $1300 retail. Recent bikes with > > What's up people?
