Hi I am an experianced rider who has been lusting after a KLR for a
couple of years. I have always owned 4 cyclinder sport bikes so am a
little nervous about having a single cyclindar for my only bike. My
question is my local dealer will sell me a new 05 klr 650 for 5200
out the door. Is this a good deal or should I look elsewhere. Thanks.

Thanks. I've had 10 bikes, most of which were 4 cylinder also. I sold my GSXR (that I could not keep up with my buddies on their KLX's, Triumph Tigers, V-stroms, BMW GS's in the twisties) and bought my KLR. I have NEVER been SO friggin happy with a bike in my life. And now I am first in the twisties. The price sounds about normal to me. I would look some more, and I would consider getting used (with some extras that you already wanted) and save a bunch of $$. Bought my A-19 in July for the msrp of 5,099. Keep looking around. You should be able to do better. Mine was one of the first to arrive at my dealer so he didn't need to deal. Had a waiting list.

Nervous about a single? No comprende. There are a lot less parts on a
single than a four. you will begin to appreciate the non complexity and
versatility of it. after riding mine for 6 years I can see why people
get hooked on singles.

I bought my 2003 New for 5350 out the door, so I would
imagine a new '05 for 5200 is probably decent. Mine
did come with an extended warranty for that price. If
I had opted out of the warranty, I could have gotten
it for 5000 flat.
