Probably from the same place you can buy tassled handlebar ends and floorboards for this bike. . A little more seriously, the only way I can figure to do it is to mount the backrest on the luggage. J.C. Whitney has a topbox that you can bolt a backrest to. If you're hauling a passenger around, that may give her a more confident feeling that she isn't about to bounce off the back of the bike. If you're talking about for the rider, though... the KLR's bars are forward and wide, generally forcing you to lean a little forward if you're sitting on the wide part of the seat. It ain't the kind of bike you ride while reclining! -E

Nobody makes one (I assume you mean for the passenger) unless you get a removeable top case and glue a foam pad to it (this is a FAR better solution than it sounds describing it). I saw a site where a guy took the drivers headrest off a Subaru car, and somehow fitted it up between the tail rack and the passenger seat. Looked good, one of the hard-rubber coated headrests with the cutouts. Devon

LOL LOL!! No kidding guys, Bill is telling it like it is. Actually, he doesn't even skim the top of how dumb this guy was in person! You just HAD to be there. I was standing there, and standing there, and STANDING THERE, listening to Bill ask this guy for the boards about 4 different ways, always asking for the same stuff, just WAITING for the guy to say "ohhhhhhh, ok." or something like that, just waiting for the lightbulb over his head to light up all of the sudden............but no........this guy was permanately "out to lunch", and he had me standing there with my mouth gaping open in awe. I was wanting to say something SO badly, but I was with Bill, and I didn't want to start anything that Bill might have to continue to deal with for years to come at that store, so I just didn't say anything. When Bill asked him that question, I barked out a huge roar like laugh and couldn't stop laughing for a solid minute. Inside I was saying to myself "RIGHT ON BILL!"
