jc whitney case falls off???

Hey there! I'm 6'2" / 200lbs., so when I recently bought my 2001 KLR 650 (mint, 1,457 miles; they guy never rode it!), I put the stock dogbones back on as well as the a standard size center stand. So, I've got the aluminum dogbones in near perfect condition, and a shortened kickstand for sale. I'd be willing to trade the set for a standard size kickstand, plus maybe some other schwag stuff; whatta 'ya got? You can either reply to this post, or email me directly at: jchandler@... Just for the trivia of it all, what did you pay? Just thinking outloud as well when I say be carefull of the condition of the inner workings of a bike, so old with so few miles. The gas can go bad, plastics can rot, rubber disintigrates, and so on. If you are unable to clean the tank, carb etc, perhaps stick close to civilization until you have determined it's reliability. If you're a Nervous Nelly, put a gallon of water on the rack, some Red Vines in the tank, charge up the cell phone, and have a great time anyway. The gas may be crap, but that'll get burned within 200 miles. The only thing I would even think may be Shiite would be the battery. Apart from that, who give a crap? I bought a 2000 with 114.5 miles on it in December '03. Battery was near dead, but it runs like a top now with a fresh battery. Rode 1900+/- miles on a one week adventure tour last week of July, put 1143 miles on it last weekend (total mileage about 4800 now). Rotting plastic and all. Bwaaahahahahaha! Yah! I bought a '89 KLR with < 10,000 miles on it from an occasional lister in Denver area, just last year. Sure enough, I crashed and broke my hip. That bike was in great shape and cost me $1100, it needed tires, doohickey upgrade, and chain/sprockets. Turned out that imperfections in the rotted plastics were calling deer down to the edge of the highway, and the bad gas and disintegrating rubber also contributed by changing the harmonic frequency of the turn signals, further inducing ignoramous behavior in the driver and making me extra stupid (yah, even more than usual stupid) til I could not sustaint proper turn-in angles and was unable to dodge the deer without highsiding. Boohoo. PHUCK DAT! - go buy the bike and ride hell out of it. I put another 8,000 miles on the '89 in the last year, including a 740 mile day looping around Mt Shast. She did develop a small oil weep but I fixed it with a new gasket for

It takes a lot longer than 3-4 years for these components to rot. Try 7-10. RM
