Mark's Oil Screen page says to tighten the side covers to 72 inlb. I can't find the torque specs in the manual. I found in the supplement manual page 1-7 that the Right/Left Engine Cover Damper Mounting Bolts are two be 87 in-lb.
I tightened to 72 inlb per Mark's instructions but have leaks. I'm wondering if I should have torqued to 87 inlb.

another day in the garage with dusty
A cool wind is blowing outside as we return from our morning visits. My KLR
is tankless awaiting the replacement IMS clear tank, and is ready for the
surgeries scheduled for this comfortable day. First to go is the Motion Pro
Clutch cable, which is to long and of the non-correct angle of departure
from the clutch handle- the replacement stock cable is butter smooth. Next
to be replaced are the fork seals - those high-stiction items that have
caused me to spend hours w/ tech support to no avail. I install replacement
seals from Kawasaki, which allow the forks to move at the pressure of a
breath. Reset both front and rear sag levels and my god, the Race Tech
cartridge emulators will need retuning, once again. Other issues are also
dealt with, but, my point is both the Motion Pro Clutch cable and the leak
proof seals for the forks cost me a great day of riding and $60+ bucks that
I could have spent on "refreshments' w/ Pat and others this coming weekend.
I'd like to thank the list vets for Clueing me in quickly to the issue with
the fork seals , and for MarkB for the bitch slapping he gave me (harhar) at
the Laguna Seca ride for the clutch cable 'clarification".
Dusty, my KLR, is also clean!!! I got so messed up in the joy of the moment,
that I washed and wiped, and almost started to move the rags in the manner
of the 'Karate Kid"!
Grrrrrr...
