My Tengai is getting a bit long in the tooth, so I'm looking at
getting another poseur bike. I missed out on a chance to grab another
lower-mileage Tengai, so I'm considering alternatives. This would be
used for geezer-grade adventures and occasional rough trails, no
heroics.
Here are my criteria:
-Must have spoked wheels, so forget about the v-strom (it's really a
sportbike anyway)
-If I'm going to go away from the Tengai, I may as well go all the
way, so must be 750cc or above
-Must be readily available in the US (so forget about the exotics)
-A 21" front wheel would be nice, but certainly not necessary (see below)
-Should be a modern bike, but I'd consider something as old as 1989.
I'm thinking BMW R100GS or newer, Triumph Tiger, Aprilia Caponord,
Cagiva Gran Canyon.
I'm leaning towards a mid-90's Tiger at the moment 'cause it's
closest to my budget. Anything I should know?
Also, are there any other candidates I'm missing? I haven't been
keeping up with the poseur bikes du jour.
Thanks,
Mark

In today's paper:
1992 BMW R100GS
15,000 miles - looks and runs new- garaged
$5500 540-828-4958
Might be worth looking into ?

I myself have been thinking differt w/ more horsies.
Honad tranalps in cylcetrader for like 3K
BMW GS's for 4-8 depending on year.
I thought a 650 vstrom could be had w/spoke ? Prob not and mabe I
thinking lates bmw.
A vstrom w/ custom spoke or maybe fitting w/ spoked wheels of another
bike(direct change?) would be nice. The vstrom could be a good bike
to smooth over w/ dirt oriented mods.
How about a Cigiva Elepant 650 twin . I rember these advertised in
dirt bike rags in 87-90.
