carb fuel level

While messing around in the garage waiting on UPS I decided to check my fuel level in the carb. After using a wire to break thru whatever was in carb drain, I found my level looks to be almost 1/4" low. The bike runs fine and I hate the idea of taking the carb off. What are the results of running with the carb level low? TIA Chuck
