stock bash plate
Anyone have a stock bash plate kicking around? Mine is broken about
three different ways. Yes i am fully aware that this indicates the
need to upgrade, but in the mean time if someone has a stocker they
can part with, please let me know.

stock bash plate
Installed this morning. The origional stocker came off in three
seperate peices. I suppose if it were held on by four bolts it would
of come off in four peices. I think I'll have to part company with
the Eldon Carl point of view on the bash plate. Everyone on the list
that spoke up about it said a new metal bash plate was mandatory. I
am slowly catching on. I'll tgry and kill off guys stock bash plate
before i do the mod, might as well get my 9 bux worth out of it.
On a side note, we had a bitchin dual sport ride this morning with
another klr and a GS 1150 waaaay too much fun!

Yea, and I'm fortunate enough to not have had more than a whole lotta scrapes done to my left side engine cover. When I took my bash plate off a couple of weeks ago to trim it down to the same size as the new ones, (I have an original version) I was riding around without it for a couple of days and loved having the reduced weight. I figured I would throw on the stock one for when I'm on the street mostly and then I would put on the heavy duty one when I went off road. Problem is I didn't put it on before I went riding in the Sierras on Memorial day and then I crashed. I'm putting the bash plate back on. MrMoose A8 (Barbie and Ken special)> to push your luck?

Not to mention the fact that they already have the fabrication capability and it would be stupid to pay wholesale for the Utah Sport Cycles bash plate when they could make their own.>which is why they designed their own for the military bike. >

--------------- I'm opening up the the slanted portion on the lower front in a pattern that should flow as much air as the stock one without weakening it overall. Much of my Southern Baja riding is over pretty rocky terrain so I absolutely need good case protection, stock one is inadequate. I want to be clear that I'm not presenting myself as any kind of expert here but am passing on the info from F1 based on their experience and measurements. As to Elden, while in his quest for perfection he takes some of these things a little further than the rest of us, I have found that all the info he has passed on to me has been based on pretty extensive experience. One of the things I have learned in my 60 years is that I have a lot to learn. several sightings today - anyone from here
Lets see Thursday, I was up at Mt St Helens's (504), Wednesday Lewis River
road (503) to Cougar, then to Vancouver. Week prior the length of 101, from
Astoria to Olympia and back. Next week the Long Beach area or maybe Omak
depending on the weather. Won't make it up Sno county & north to Canadian
border for a month or so I guess. This job is a real bitch, can't wait for
the weekend to get away from it all. ;^).
