klr budget luggage question

I know this is on the cheap and certainly ugly side, but has anyone used or thought of using the $10.00 each Coleman/igloo hard sided coolers instead of expensive aluminum boxes? Outside dimensions are close to aluminum boxes, they are almost indestructable and easily replaced if damaged. With some weather strip they would probably be water tight. John 03 KLR
