clearview measurements
My wife did the measuring, so, having made that disclaimer, here we go: From the saddle / rear-end to the crown of my helmet was 3'2". From the top of the windshield to the crown of my helmet was (an eyeballed) 13".> If you don't mind, could you sit on the bike with your helmet on and > have someone measure from the seat along your back to the top of > your helmet? I think this would help us all to determine which size > we might need.
The best *I* can answer this is... maybe. Due to surgery and life in general, it's been a while since I've ridden the bike. It seems as though it IS more quiet, but I'm honestly not too sure. I had a June bug nail me in the chest when I was using the stock shield, so I tried the taller Kawasaki shield that I was given. That kept the nasties off of me, but put the air flow at about mid-helmet. The Clearview only has about 100 miles of road time, and because the other shields are kind of ancient history, I don't remember how they were concerning wind noise. This Clearview is very thick, and very stable. It doesn't flop around, so I'm guessing that's a big part of the reason why it seems more quiet than the others. My last bike was a Goldwing, and I guess I was spoiled by the fairing & windshield. For road travel, I really don't want to be pelted by bugs and road debris. For off-roading, which I really can't do anymore, you wouldn't want a taller shield on there. I rode through our woods the other day, and it was weird. Looking down through the shield, the ground was distorted - definitely not how you'd want to ride... For me, > that's the only reason I'd want a taller wind screen.
