Welcome to one of the best motorcycle lists on the net! I would recommend a good baseline maintenance, so you know that all of the stuff has been taken care of. You should invest in the Clymer manual from Fred or other vendors. This you should do TODAY: Read the FAQ: http://www.bigcee.com/klr650faq.html And review the maint routines located here: http://klr6500.tripod.com/ Things you should do Tomorrow: 1. Check/adjust the valves. 2. Adjust the doohickey. 3. Ride bike. Things you should do Over the Next Month: 1. Replace the doohickey & spring. 2. Clean oil pump screen. 3. Full oil/filter change. 4. Flush coolant and replace w/ new. 5. Check/replace brake pads. 6. Change brake fluid, replace w/ new. 7. Clean air filter. 8. Check/adjust battery level. 9. Lube all cables w/ proper cable lube. 10. Ride bike. Avoid the pressure washer, at it forces water past seals and starts rust/corrosion on bearings and internal frame fittings. Think about how you will ride the bike, and what deficiencies you may need to resolve. Then consider upgrades, brakes, tires, luggage, suspension, etc. Come back here for more opinions. If you're not sure what to do next, ride the bike. This is not an objective opinion, it's very subjective and opinionated. The reason for all the thorough maintenance: ... So you can ride the bike. hth, MarkB --- In DSN_klr650@yahoogroups.com, "sergio750102000" wrote:
