Well, I guess at some point I over-tightened the nut holding on the
water pump impeller. Riding home the other day, coolant started
spewing. Pulled the cover to discover the nut was spun off the shaft.
Question for any of you that can help... what will it take to
replace the shaft? Will I be able to remove it with the clutch cover
off or will I need to go deeper.
Thanks for the help in advance, this is a wonder group to
participate with.

water pump shaft... need help
I'm not entirely clear on the specifics, but I'm pretty sure that you have to take the left side cover off also because the shaft goes all the way through. I'm not sure if it would be obvious what's required once you're in there, or not... water pump shaft... need help
to get the shaft out, its true, u have to open the left side as well.
what u will need , is a manual because, u will have to take off the
balancers and also the balancer chain. put em back wrongly and u will
have problems. gaskets on both sides should be useable if not broken.
water pump seal and oil seal must be changed.
had this problem before. the threaded part on the right snapped
while tightening the impeller nut.
good luck

Fortunately for the rest of us you do fight the battle with corbin HQ so the rest of us can get our corbin's in a matter of days. Last year I ordered mine from Fred on a Monday, it was at my house on Wednesday, letting me take off on a 5000 mile trip on Friday.
