klx needle and 136 main jet

Post by gkc2us » Fri Mar 05, 2004 1:40 am

Where can I buy the KLX carb needle and a 136 main jet? I looked on Fred's site and only saw the Dynojet kit. I am getting ready to order a bunch of goodies from Fred for the KLR to get it ready for much more off road travel this spring and summer. I want to be able to rejet the carb (for my riding altitude of 5000' ASL and above) and change the needle at the same time as I am doing other mods. TIA for any info you can provide, Greg

Ron Ayers (ronayers.com) can sell you the needle, clip, and washer. They can also sell you Keihin main jets. The 136mj is a Dynojet MJ number which corresponds to the stock 148 Keihin main jet. The 140 Dynojet MJ corresponds to a 150 Keihin MJ. Keep in mind you will need to go LEANER as you gain altitude. Devon gcheney@... wrote:

Thanks for the info Devon. Since the 136MJ is the same as stock I will stay with stock for now. The bike runs fine up to 14,000'+ ASL so I will just change the jet and move the screw out 2.5 turns. Since this is on a '93 "Barbie Bike" the screw might be OK. I will check it once I start working on the carb. I will call Ron Ayers and get the needle etc. on order. We got snow last night and this morning but are supposed to be in the 50s this weekend and 60s Mon and Tue. I will believe it when I see it:) Take care and ride safe but fast, Greg
