If anyone has the new Arai XD helmet, I'd like to hear about your
experience (besides the empty wallet).

I've had an Arai TourCross, which I believe to be the same helmet, for about 15 months now and I love it. Best of both worlds, it's light and comfortable. Arai helmets are the finest money can buy, I reckon, they are well designed and have the feel of being manufactured with the primary focus on quality. The only negative thing is their tends to be a bit of a "fishbowl" effect from the huge sheld, but it's not too bad. It's really cool to be able to put a shield down if you get caught in the rain, beats having rain sting your nose at 60 mph for sure. // snip You can tell if your pilot jet is the correct size by fiddling around with the mixture screw. At idle, you should be able to go from too lean to too rich without running out of adjustment in either direction. Ideally, if the jet is perfect, you should hit the right mixture from about 1 to 3 turns. The slide cutaway controls the mixture from just off idle (about 1/8 to around 1/4 throttle. I agree with you that the slide may be the problem, but most hesitations are from a lean condition. That would mean you need a slide with less cutaway, not more. Good luck and pass the word when you get is sorted out. Ron, Gilbert, AZ> The next thing > to try is a leaner slide. I have a spare I can cut away to a 4.5.
