klr caburator

The carb mods for the Harley CV carb works great for the KLR. I took my Screaming Eagle CV kit and switched spings , raised the needle and upped both the pilot jet and main on size along with opening up the airbox and was able to increase the grunt factor of my 2002 KLR. ( Grunt = torque not necessarily HP.) Torque pushes you there while HP keeps you there. Where I had to tug on the bars to loft the front wheel I am able to just twist the grip for the same lift. I may also try the Thunderslide to see if that helps. I still get around 45-55 MPG and have lost that annoying flat spot right off idle. As far as the Harley I went with the Mikuni 44MM flat slide. Got a little more grunt but a lot less MPG. Vintage010
