I caught the news at lunch today. I know it dates me, but I grew up with the Captain, Mr Greenjeans, Mr Moose and bunny rabbit and Tom Terrific and Grandfather Clock. And come to find out he was Clara Bell too. Pat G'ville, Nv [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

From The Great White North, So let me get this "straight". Y'all way down there are mourning the passing of a cross dresser that enticed kids to play with him by imitating various fictional characters and you get all upset when Canada decides to recognize same-sex marriages. Now I'm really confused. Cheers, Dave Watkins Calgary, Alberta, Canda

A cross-dresser on cable won't mean that most businesses now will no longer provide health benefits because every frat boy declares themselves married to their stoner roomates to get free health insurance. I could care less who gets married, what the core of the battle is though is the expense of requiring companies to now also insure whoever claims to be a wife/husband/partner under health plans that are already becoming rare, insufficient, and expensive. NJ just declared a law that basically will allow anyone to be required to be covered by family health care benefits. You don't even have to be married. That is a major mistake and will probably cost my family their health insurance coverage eventually, meaning I will have to pay $1200/month out of my own pocket to cover them. Hopefully it gets overturned when this scumbag governor is voted out. Picture yourself as a small businessman and trying to do the right thing and provide health insurance for your employees. Now it will be impossible to do so if you have one loser that claims he is 'married' to his roomate, thus doubling your expenses. It's already rare to get coverage with a small business employer, it will become impossible very soon. The costs of covering yourself are astronomical as the insurance angencies want no part of individual policies and price accordingly. People with their head deep in the sand think this is some sort of ribbon wearing gay rights issue. It is not, it is about putting people unwilling to work on the teat of businesses. It is yet another reason for more Americans not to bother actually getting a damned job.
