With fork springs out, and forks collapsed, this is the only way to measure fork oil volume. I have a set of late 80s vintage Marzooks where this is how the oil volume is specified. While provided a volume in ounces, both my KDX and DRZ shop manuals use this method when describing how much oil to fill the forks with. Its been years since I've seen fork oil volume specified any other way in the dirt biking magazines. Pat G'ville, Nv [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

No bubbles. Of course. After compression. Let it settle = no air. Mike T. A16 Las Vegas

Technique is all important. Need to pump the forks to make sure the air is out of the dampener rods as well. My technique is to fill the forks, pump several times, block up the front wheel with the forks collapsed, springs out, go into the house and get the next beer, come back out and set the height on my Motion Pro fork oil height tool and by that time the bubbles are gone. BTW, one good thing about wrenching during the winter in northern Nevada, the beers never get warm. Pat G'ville, Nv [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

It is so easy to drain it all via a rebuild. The junk in my fork tubes was worth removing. I did the full disassembly - NO specials tools - and the damping rod? A none issue - contact me and I will help you directly. Mike T. A16 Las Vegas

Oh, you are such a bitch :-) Pat, your travels in my old grounds gets me going. I am so wanting for the central/ northern sierras. You have got me.! Following - Technique - my ass- doing a full dry rebuild of the forks is a NON-issue. A jam nut for the damper rod and the rest is easy. Why would anyone leave old stuff in place? I mean. Rebuild it~! NO old lube in the tubes. Mike T. A16 - so clean and shorts bleached, that I want to shi$ your drawers just to get the colors right. Las Vegas, NV - on the way to Death Valley Days in 3 days - YES!!!!!!!!! -----Original Message----- From: KDXKawboy@... [mailto:KDXKawboy@...] Sent: Monday, January 19, 2004 9:44 PM To: z89101@... Yeah Pat, this is the way nearly all of Marzocchi's modern MTB forks do their oil servicing, and it's an important tuning issue for bottom-out. They make great MTB forks. Thad Carey A15 (wearing Barbie's stuff)
