I have a 93 KLR650, and the tool box mounted at the
back of the seat has broken. Does anyone have a spare
or one that they could get rid of? I dont need the
tools, just the box.

Sorry Shane, Can't help you. But you do bring up something I'm curious about. Has anyone come up with an innovation on carrying tools? I'm looking particularly at the front end of the bike and I want to carry spanners and box end wrenches up to about 13"-14" long. Hey gang,
Try PVC PIPE and attach them to your Happy Trails Engine Guard/Foot Pegs for a tool carrier.
Now, Can use the "White Caulk" inside the handle bars along with the Pro Gel hand Grips to reduce the VIBBBBRRAAATIon...
Thanks!!

Todd- I assume that you don't like the PVC tube toolbox mounted on the frame behind the front wheel? I have looked at the PVC alternative. I like the idea on paper, but
there are situations (possibly like the one millerized2000
encountered) that could destroy the pipe, or get everything inside
nasty wet.
Hmmm, I wonder what it would look like on the upper fairing. Might
be able to buckle it on for easy removal (after a day ride).

I, too am looking at the pvc approach. However, I am planning to mount
it under my LH Happy trails PL rack (sort of visually balance the
muffler on the right. Got the end caps, just looking for a scrap of 3"
pvc. I don't need to add a 6-foot scrap of tube to all the other junk
in my yard.

If you're not using rear rack luggage, then you might also want to look at a small tailbag. I have a small Chase Harper reticulated foam tail bag that is the perfect size for my tool rool, a bottle of oil and some spare parts. I drilled a couple of holes in the rear rack and mounted it with a couple of bolts and fender washers, not easily detacheable, but where I ride, I don't want it to be. Or look at one of those "barrel" bags... Z DC> I have looked at the PVC alternative. Hmmm...Good Point.
I wonder if you could attach it in that little area in te faring and console area. You know that area forward of the display. I just looked at the bike.

FWIW, I installed a pvc tool tube on the A15 last November. That is
when I got the bike out of the shop (post crash). Not having read
all of the horror stories, I'm still happy with it. I don't know how
long it is. It was scrap piece of 4" pvc, about 20 inches long. The
main reason installed it was no frigging patch kit. I had a flat
within the first month, and wound up stranded with no way to patch
the tube, much less pull the tire. I used angle iron, metal straps,
longer harder bolts, etc, and attached it to the front motor mount.
I can see where the front end could dive hard enough that the front
tire could bind up on the tool tube. It hasn't happened to me. In
hard turns I might worry that the pvc would grind away, however I
have found that the outside my boots touch first. If I were
threading my way through sex stones (f---ing rocks) and stumps, I
might worry about catching the tube. But that is not where I ride.
I've dropped the top heavy KLR three times, with both feet on the
ground. (BTW, don't try to judge the air pressure of the rear tire
visually while crossed up and off balance on the side of a mountain.
The other two times were even more stupid.) The pvc tube prevented
hundreds of dollars worth of damage. It carries all kinds of tools
and patches with room for the pump off my mountain bike. It is
padlocked. And it doubles as highway pegs, sort of. Not all mods
work for all riders. But mark me down as one happy camper.
