600 to 650 shock ??
Dunno.
But I have a blown 650 shock on hand, and I can measure the relevant
dimensions.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say it won't fit. Two different bikes. To verify, go to http://www.buykawasaki.com and look at the parts fiches. Different part numbers, I bet. Here's something to think about when you hit 100 (actual 93 if using the stock speedo). Buchanan spokes, as well as all others I've seen, have rolled threads. This work hardens the threaded area (like shot peening) and makes the threaded part of the spoke far less likely to fail. I'm sure you used a die to thread the spokes, every valley of every thread is a stress raiser. Pay VERY close attention to how the spokes loosen up in use.>Mike, I'm with Zach as far as not getting a used rear. >I'm doin what he's talkin about not doin, right now. >I've spent several hours now trying to true this Biache! >I'm there, or as close as I'm going to get. >I'm pretty sure it'll do a hunderd. >I'll let you,,,,or I won't let you know if it don't work. >Problem is, even if it is a known good used rim designed for the >rear, the spoke angle won't point at the front KLR hub. >I had to hog all my dimples to get my spokes at the correct angle. >I also cut and threaded all 36 spokes. >
If you add up all the time you spent, especially after re-doing it with good spokes later on, you may have done better if you spent the time sewing Nikes in Bangladesh. I made a new front wheel for my KLR, I got the rim off ebay, the hub of ebay in a separate transaction, and the spoke kit frm Buchanan.>Can't use the KLR front spoke nipples, cuz nobody can reproduce the >threads, not metric and not sae. >The spanish Ackront had metric nipples, so I threaded the KLR spokes >metric. >I did this as an experiment, because I got all this shit for free and >when I priced all the stuff I needed at Buchanans, well you did a >little price checkin, huh! >Plus I seem to have alot of time on my hands, as all four of my >wives, seem to ride the cotton pony at the same time! Tell buchananspokes.com what you want to do, and they'll drill the rim and put together the spoke kit for you. The way Buchanan explained the choices in rims to me, was that an Excel is harder to bend or ding but more likely to crack. A Sun was easier to bend but also easier to repair. -- Devon Brooklyn, NY A15-Z '01 KLR650 '81 SR500 cafe racer "The truth's not too popular these days....."
