Hi,
I bought a red Mean Streak last summer because my wife did not like
the KLR in green.
After 17 years I decided to get back in motorcycling and this bike is
my third street bike.
After only 2000 miles and $1300.00 for insurance for a year I now
realize that I should of gotten the KLR and saved some $$$.
I want to sell the MS and get a 2004 KLR (Red is okay now...), but I
am also ready to wait if there is any chance that the 2005 KLR would
be updated.
Is there any rumors out there for the 2005 KLR? Just wondering if the
Suzuki/Kawasaki partnership could possibly make that happen.
Thanks,
DR

Though obviously we as KLR riders are very passionate about our bikes, the category of these bikes don't really produce the kinds of numbers that spurs a lot of interest on the part of the big manufacturers. Putting much R&D into this segment of the market usually isn't a big priority. Could you imagine Kawasaki's premier sport bike maintaining the exact same technology and setup since their '87 model? Time may not stand still forever for the KLR, but I won't be surprised to see it around for awhile either. A good news/bad news aspect of this is the price, aftermarket support, and social ownership/interaction like we have on this site. need help: ato fuse mod wiring connection
I need a hand here.
I've got the fuse mods from dualsportrider.org and they are really
well made stuff! But my lame brain doesn't understand something in
the plug and play wiring. I'm looking at the ATO fuse replacement
kit for the 2 fuses on top of the battery. (Yup, these ATO things
look way better than the glass tube garbage)
Some of the wires, specifically a brown and white one, end in a
silver "male" connector of some sort. I undid the stock fuse block
and took the brown and white wires from them with gold clamp
connectors and tried clamping the gold wings shut with needle nose on
the silver male ends. That didn't work too good. I tried slipping
the clear plastic off of some other connectors but that didn't look
like a plug in, either. Getting frustrated I cut the silver male
ends off and plier-crimped the gold wings on. Then I noticed if the
white fuse kit wire (now amputated from the silver male end) touches
the white wire from the battery's positive terminal, the headlight
comes on, even though the ignition is in "off"??
Come to think of it, maybe when both brown and white wires are hooked
up then the relay kicks in like it's supposed to. But I wanted to
ask before I did something irreversible. Am I going in the right
direction?
I think I flunked MacGiver 101.
Please help, I'm trying to get my baby running for work commuting
tomorrow.
Thanks in advance.
