metzeler enduro 3 sahara's? yes, no, maybe?
Looking for experiences with this tire. The good, the bad, the ugly.
I need a good 50/50 tire. I travel highways (75 mph speed limit here
in Montana) but, absolutely, positively, must have my daily fun in
the dirt.

I have one on the front and have found it to be a good street tire. About
the same as stock off road.

I ran a pair this summer and was pretty pleased with the results. Got a solid 6000 miles off the rear with 4500 of that running with a full touring load. It started to get a little skittish as the rear knob got down to 1/8". Pat G'ville, Nv [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]> > Looking for experiences with this tire. Toad,
I ran a few sets of Sahara 3s on my KLR and like them except for the
price. They used to be made in Germany and now they are made in
Brazil. Seem OK though. I would get 3500 out of a rear and about 5000
out of the front. My KTM LC4 640 would get 2500 miles from the Sahara
3 rear (Brazilian or German ones). Saharas are not mud tires though.
I am hard on tires but hey thats plenty of miles IMO.
I only got 900 miles out of a TKC 80 rear on my KTM LC4 and totally
ripped and wore out an MT21 pirelli (made in Brazil too) to pieces in
400 miles on the KTM 640.
Personally I have grown to like the "el cheapo" Kenda 270 for the
rear of the KLR. Good mileage 3500+ , good grip on both street and
dirt, no chunking, and CHEAP!

The Enduro 3's are nice tires, not really what I'd call 50/50 though.
I'd go with a Continental TKC-80 for that much dirt travel.

Try the Maxxis M6006. They are great on the back, it will get you
through anything and handle great on the street. The front version
is OK but I will be trying a different tire now that the front is
totally worn out.

Just because a salesmen doesn't give you a good deal, doesn't mean the
dealership is bad. If a dealer gave you a great deal, but then you took him
the bike to adjust the valves, and he dropped a bolt into the engine, and
three days later you blew the motor. Would he still be a good dealer? The
only way to judge any dealership is by their long term performance, based on
many customers experiences, not an isolated incident. If a dealer has been
in business for a long time, that is usually the best indication they know
what they're doing.
Of course, if your like Gino, being the only game in town, you may just be
stuck with them, no matter how they treat you.

It would be very helpful when people have complaints
(or praise) about a dealer, mention who the dealer is.
This way other members can be steared clear of, or
lead to that particular dealer.
Anonymous postings about dealer misbehavior don't
serve to help anyone. Let us know who it is so we
don't make the same mistake. Lets reward the dealers
who practice great customer service and avoid the ones
who don't.
We are here to help each other.
cheers, r
