what are this people (kawasaki) thinking about? >:-(
Hi, this is my first here post since @ 2001. I used to have a 2001
model that got stolen in PR. Moved to Atlanta in Feb and bought a
road bike. By my username you can tell wich one
.
Anyways, I'm thinking of also getting another KLR650. I prefer to buy
new if posible. When I checked Kawasaki's website the new KLR is RED,
what the ~!@#$% is wrong with this people? ~!@#$%^&*( First they
changed from the good blue to military green. Then changed to green
and black tank and now to whole RED. ~!@#$%^&
Who is doing their market research, "Color Blind R Us"?
Now I'll have to go to the used market, which I don't like. Looking
for the green and silver tank version.

Funny, when I first saw the Rockster I thought the same thing, "What the
!@#$% is BMW thinking?" But you like it, so that's what's important. I like
my "army green" A14 just fine the way it is. So maybe you need to start a
"only blue KLRs are cool list"
Karl
A14 yes it's GREEN!

Where do you find a new KLR that is whole red? They are black
and red, and they look pretty darn good like that. Of course, I
just don't like the green the same way you don't like the red. I
think Kawasaki realizes that they need to change the colors from
time to time to cater to those who just don't like the green
color. I bet there there are a lot more people who prefer most
any other color than that shade of green that they have used for
so long. JMHO

Funny, I kind of like the red. I had an '01 too and that wasn't too bad either. But that blue, just didn't do anything for me. I guess like they say, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. On another note, I read on here in the past, that many do go back to the KLR. I am thinking of getting rid of my XRL to get a nice new red KLR, the KLR fits my riding needs a little better than my XRL. I ride mostly street. Ed> Hi, this is my first here post since @ 2001. As one poster already said, "beauty is in the eye of the beholder". I really took a "left-turn-Charley" (at least by the apparent majority opinions) by tossing my '01 army green bodywork and going to a modified '94-'95 Malibu Barbie color scheme. My second choice would have been a mixture of white and some of the red '04 body parts. And if you get right down to it, my first choice would be a real Kawasaki green KLR with a big plastic tank that would probably look like Iowa class KX battelship. So as you can tell, there are all kinds of sick, personal perspectives as to what looks good. One advantage of the KLR is that you can probably buy an '04 KLR, and through swapping or selling parts, you could come up with a color more acceptable to you--these parts all interchange from 1987. Try that with other motorcycles. Thad Carey A15 (Barbie in drag)> what the ~!@#$% is wrong with this people? ~!@#$%^&*( First they > changed from the good blue to military green. I'm so glad that you broke your two year hiatus for such an important and unbiased topic. Perhaps there are people who have just bought '04s and LIKE the color. Oh, well; screw 'em. And you could easily have pissed off all of the truly colorblind KLRistas, too. You unfeeling bastard. Since you have a desire (for whatever reason) to buy brand new, why not buy a new "red" one and just replace the body panels? I didn't pay attention to what color you wanted, but finding good-condition plastic isn't that hard. Or you could send the red plastic off to be painted. What's a few bucks, right? I'm trying to calm my enthusiasm to wait until ~Feb to hopefully work out a deal (okay - a steal) on this new color model. Also, if you're serious about getting last years colors, I suspect you can still snag a new '03? Have your local dealer do a search or do some calls or emails yourself to some dealers in your state.> ... the new KLR is RED, > what the ~!@#$% is wrong with this people? ~!@#$%^&*( First they > changed from the good blue to military green. How tough could it really be to shoot a run of blue plastic, then
red, then yellow, then green...so there is a choice, like other bike
companies have ?!?!?!?!

actually as long as the klr has been around the colour is the thing that keeps it coming back every year. if it wasnt for the new colours each year what would all us klr'ers talk about> companies have ?!?!?!?!

I didn't read the whole thread, but if somebody is looking for
plastics www.dual-star.com has them. They don't list availability on
the web site, but a phone call could get you any color you want,
besides the new red I guess. Anyway, if you treat the KLR to the
life it loves, it should end up mostly brown!
