hello boys and girls from a newbei in the uk

Post by Fred Dear » Fri Oct 10, 2003 7:02 pm

I've just joined this group as I pick up my first KLR650 tomorrow. It's a 2002 model and what we call an import here in the UK (sorry if your familiar with this term, I.E. it was not imported into the UK, something to do with the EEC and all that Euro nonsense) anyhow, I have also just looked at the FAQ page and all I can say to that is WOW, brilliant. With all that info there I won't need to be asking too many question on here, well not for a while anyway. I was going to ask about aftermarket parts such as a higher windshield and where to buy because this bike was, as I said, not imported into the UK and therefore I may find it harder to get these parts over here. The bike I'm picking up is a nice blue one with only 2,300 miles on it and it is gleaming like new and the manufacturers warranty is still current until sometime next year I think. It was up for 2,990.00 but I knocked the Kawasaki dealer down to 2750.00 plus free fitting of a brand new Scott-oilier I bought from them and even managed to 9.00 knocked of the price of that and were going halves on 6 months road tax. I've been a Suzuki GT 750 (Kettle in the UK and water buffalo in the US) owner and rider for the last few years but I have recently sold every bit I had as I thought it time for a change. I also had a Yamaha FJ1200 but I turned that into a "Short Wheelbase" FJ1200 thanks to the idiot/old fart that reversed his car around a bend in front of me last year. That's partly the need/feel for a change to something different so that my wife and I can ride the bike I'm picking up tomorrow. Well I do have one last question, which is, are they're many other owners here in the UK.? Thanks in advance. Fred. Hampshire England.
