...Actually, I've hiked and canoed and ridden through much of the
Pine Barrens over the last 30 years and been lost (before GPSs),
alone, at night, in parts of it inaccessible by vehicle and yes, it
gets your attention. (The damn thing is over 1,000,000 acres of
pretty much nothing, which surprises many people who think all of NJ
is like Turnpike Exit 13). A friend and former hunting partner of
mine, an ex-cop, claims to have seen some VERY strange things on the
ground and in the sky while deer hunting in the Pine Barrens.

According to some, there is (or was) a secret research facility out there
called Ong's Hat that may be responsible for some of the strange phenomena.

I've beeen close to where I think Ong's Hat is located, but never
actually gotten there. I've seen some old rusty "US Military Facility
signs on some of the trails. I'm planning a solo exploratory ride in
the Pine Barrens tomorrow. There's a loooong powerline I want to
explore. Maybe I'll see how close I can get to Ong's Hat also.
