I have a new noise on my 2002 Kawasaki KLR650 (still under 4,000
miles). [an aside: Every time I practice wheelies on it I get some
new noise. Last was the loose headlight. The guilt begins again.]
This noise I cant find the loose part or fastener that is doing it.
It sounds like you would expect a frayed speedometer line to sound;
sort of a wind-up, zing thing without any steady pace. I
disconnected the speedometer cable and the noise persisted. It
doesn't sound till the bike begins moving, and it starts early on.
It seems to dissappear after a speed of about 35 mph, but that could
be it's drowned out by wind.
I hate to be a guy that waits till it breaks before fixing it. but
this one has me giving up so far.
Any guesses would be helpful.
