I have used this on my ATV. Does work. sticks good, but I recommend wetsanding the plastic a bit for a better stick. One thing I found, is mud that sits on my quad will tend to leave a mark. With that beeing said, I don't think you're bike will see the same mud as my 4 wheeler does. I got a can to experiment with. Trying to decide if I really want to customize my KLR or keep it he crappy green. But don't want to screw up my resale value (Hah!) on a KLR that has 27,000 miles. I sprayed it on a piece of garbage can plastic. It seems pretty durable but the spray on that plastic was kinda grainy. I don't know what it will do on metal. Criswell dehager2000 wrote:

First of all "no-prep" is a laugh, no matter what coating you're talking about. I'm impressed if they've found a way to make paint stick to glossy polyethelyene or polyproplyene plastics, that's tough. What I've heard is that, yes it sticks. But no, it's not suitable for a motor vehicle since gasoline dissolves it on contact. Do you really hate the green that much? Devon dehager2000 wrote:

I used bulldog adhesion promotor and flex agent. With bumper paint gasoline would melt the paint away. I tried the bulldog with rustoluem hardhat paint and the paint resists gasoline very well. And w/ the bulldog it sticks very well and flexes. If you want black painted plastic I'll trade for your green. Painting a bike with a spray can is very liberating. Maybe I'll change color every year or make it black and yellow like a bumblebee.

I've tried the Fusion on a couple of poly front fenders. It does stick real well, didn't seem to want to chip, crack, or peel even if bent and twisted. What they(Krylon) don't tell you is that it doesn't like solvent at all. After a week of curing, a splash of 89 octane and a wipe of a rag the Fusion was gone... I found that Rustoleum applied over a lacquer primer seemed to work as well, and was resistant to gasoline after curing. I'm not saying this is perfect, but its better than Fusion. Scuffing poly with scotchbrite will leave a good finish to paint over. Eric in Pa

I guess Kawa has to stick with green for their MX bikes as they have since the early 70's but hey Yamaha and Honda change every now and then. I just don't particularly care for their color schemes on the KLR . But if they made them good looking and good sounding (tweet) Harley guys would want them and drive the price up. I agree with the gasoline part. if you drop some on it, it will eat it away. But, where my 4 wheeler wasn't scratched like underneath a sticker, the paint didn't stick too good. I had to wet sand it, and now if I remove the paint, my plastic is all scuffed. So make sure you realy want to do it. I applied a Clear coat afterwards and that help in minimizing the scratches and as it turns out, it's doing a decent job.
