To get rid of my sweet friend tweety, I have done the recommended mod
of opening the bottom seam of the inner perfed screen in the muffler.
That having not done much, I opened new seams at 3,9,and 12 oclock as
well.
Tweety is definitely quieter, but is still persistent and noticeable.
Are there any other recommendations, aside from replacement?
It is ridable, but I have pride in my KLR and as silly as this may be,
I don't care for others thinking it is a relative of old air-cooled
vw's.
Could it be a bad gasket or weak clamp where the muffler attaches to
the front pipe?

300 mile 2 day southern illinois fall dualsport ride
Updated info: I posted an invite to the KLR list for this ride about
a week ago and something has come up I never thought about. People
from the list are inviting people not on the list and that is just
fine with me, cause I don't care who comes or what kind of bike they
ride--your buddies are my buddies. When I put the invite out I knew
only about 4-15 from the list (just guessing) would actually show up
or be able to come. But what if 160 want to come or show up-----whoa
daddy. I see a total melt down disaster for a follow the leader type
ride. So------everything is fine----send me those e-mails if you want
to come and if it gets out of hand I'll will be forced to weed out
the non listers maybe. I've seen this type of ride go really bad with
too many people. There's just 12 that replied to me so far anyway,
and I bet half of them will run into scheduling problems-----
I'm probably worrying about nothing. I may wait another month before
I put a date on it. So I'm still taking riders--and if your not on
the list---just tell me so I'll know. But I'll have to put a
big "NKLR" sticker on your back
Thanks!! Mark Sampson
