need a little help on a separator/canister problem that i seem to be
having with a 2000 klr i just purchased.bike runs great for approx 50
miles when the canister loads up with fuel and it refuses to idle,
stalls constantly and will just about make it to the nearest safe
harbor. local shop has had it for about three weeks off and on and
can't seem to localize the problem(they have replaced the canister
once to no good result). i've lost all faith in their abilities.all
vent lines seem to be clear but being new to the bike, i'm not sure
which way to go. any suggestions??? since i don't live in california,
i got to wondering whether all this emission gear is neccesary. any
input would be gratefully accepted.

california emissions problem
Are you sure it's the cannister? It sounds like a clogged tank vent. Try riding the bike until it starts stalling, and then open the gas tank cap. If you hear air rushing in, and the bike runs again, that's the problem. If it _is_ the smog system, you don't need it. There are removal instructions in the FAQ. (Seems unlikely that the cannister system would fail so soon, but anything's possible.) Krokko -- Dr. J. The link to Duro tires doesn't have anything about motorcycle tires.

You can see a photo of the Duro HF 904 tire on my site at:
