It seems no one has yet stepped forward so I will proceed with the assumption that I will be doing the organizing. At this point I plan to focus on collecting donations only, if anyone wants to step up and help sell the bike feel free. A couple of details that occur to me in the short term follow. If anyone has any suggestions please feel free to send them along. 1. Is Mrs. Gay getting these e-mails? If you are please send me an e- mail offlist with some contact info. We will need to know if you even want us to do this. If she is not getting the e-mails does someone have a way to get ahold of her? My work phone is in my sig, I'll give my home phone out to anyone who wants it offlist. My e-mail addys are: work (most used, but not on the weekends): dmorrow@... home : dsmmrm@... 2. I will speak to a bank about setting up a dedicated account. Ideally people would be able to mail checks directly to the bank payable to the fund name and accessible only to Mrs. Gay. That'll keep me out of the firing line. At present I don't even know if we can do that but I'll check this out tomorrow and supply some details monday. 3. If anyone has a Pay Pal vendor account (I have one I can buy with but not accept payments) perhaps they may be able to act as a proxy and accept payments and forward a check to the fund. Fred? Anyone? Same for a VISA/MC merchant account if anyone wants to help out in that area. If commissions are a burden let me know and we'll see what we can do. 4. All aggregate financial data of the process will be open to all to view. Details of individual's contributions will only be available to Mrs. Gay. -- Dave Morrow IS Manager R.E.Warner & Associates Westlake, Ohio 440-835-9400

Circumstances (work) prevented me from getting to the bank saturday. I will get the fund set up asap pending Sharon's approval. As soon as they open today I'll call and get some details. I have noted and saved all of the generous offers for help. You are a great group (both dsn and mads), it makes me proud to be a part. I will be posting some details soon with how to follow through. One of our Canadian bretheren offered to let us use his Paypal account. I don't know if there are any complications with conversion or not. Any advice? Please bear with me, I have very little time available with a work schedule from hell so it may take a couple days to get everything set up. Banker's hours are not user friendly for the gainfully employed. -- Dave Morrow IS Manager R.E.Warner & Associates Westlake, Ohio 440-835-9400

I spoke to a bank and to Mrs. Gay today. Sharon is holding up ok, about as well as is possible under the circumstances. She sounds like a very nice person in a very hard situation. She certainly deserves our help. The bank near me said they needed David's SS number to set up a fund account. They indicated that it's a government thing, not their policy so any bank would require it. I would not ask for nor expect Sharon to give me that so... I asked Sharon to open a memorial account in a bank near her that we can send money to. She can confidentially supply them with whatever info they need. I asked her to have the bank call me or give me the bank's number once the account is open so we can coordinate getting the word out. She should not have to deal with any more of this than absolutely necessary. I don't know when this will happen so please be patient. -- Dave Morrow IS Manager R.E.Warner & Associates Westlake, Ohio 440-835-9400

Dave, my only question is if it's going to be possible to send a *money order* to the account, to you or to wherever is appropriate. I don't have PayPal, and only use a Credit card for stuff like car rentals that can't be accomplished in any other way... Thanks for taking the time and trouble to set all this up. Hi All, It is taking a bit longer to set up an account for the memorial fund than originally thought. It should be ready in a couple days. Another lister who goes by the moniker Bookwood had generously offered to let us use his Paypal account. There is a natural tendancy in people to lose the urgency in things like this the longer it takes to get it going. Please let's not let this courageous lady down. She is weathering a very hard storm. -- Dave Morrow IS Manager R.E.Warner & Associates Westlake, Ohio 440-835-9400

I see that Sharon has posted the bike for sell on this forum as well. I think it was Kathleen that brought up the idea of buying it for Mariola (sp?)to give her a chance to continue her journey. I know it's going to the well again, but if 100 of us gave $25 to the Mariola Bike Fund, we could do two courageous women a favor.. Just a thought... Dave, THANKS!! Ron in MN

Helge was instrumental in figuring out how to deal with the various aspects of the "bike show" a while back. I was clueless as to how to proceed, but he called me - from Canada! - to talk about the situation. (I think he also called the others.) He's a good guy, so I'm not surprised to hear that he made the Paypal offer...
