Gents am doing my first valve clearance inspection on the Kawey.
Have alrady done the doohickey replacement and all went well there.
Have checked clearance this morning and at bottom end (tight end of
the spectrum) with .004 for both intakes and .007 for both exhaust
clearances.
My question with 3500 KMS on the bike should I or shouldn't try to
split the difference and open up a couple of thou. I do not have
ready access to shims here in the great white north, so need to know
if its achievable. However, I will bow to your collective sage
advice.
Many thanks in advance.

valve clearances help
In *my* opinion, I think you'd be well advised to go ahead and adjust the clearances to mid or upper range of the spec. I'd bet you'll find in the miles to come that adjustment will be minimal, or not even necessary. I would set them now to not have to worry about it. You can order shims in whatever sizes you need from Fred Hink at http://www.angelfire.com/ut/moab/index.html His shim prices are good, and he ships quickly. nklr .riden clothes
Weldon,
I have a First Gear mesh jacket and like it. After reading a raving review on the Fieldsheer jacket, I went to my dealer and tried one on. The price was great at $99, but I didn't like the feel of the armor. It might have conformed to my shape in time, but I tried the First Gear on and it felt great immediately.
I beleive that it was the same review that mentioned color and coolness of the jacket. Apparently the yellow jacket was cooler than even the silver.
Whatever brand jacket you choose, it will be better than riding in a t-shirt.
