new klr purchase
Hey all,
I've been lurking for a bit, but have enough questions that I think it's
time to pipe up. I'm a contractor in the Northwest, which means I work a
year and then have the option of taking 100 days off before returning to my
job. Alaska's calling this year, and I'm not sure I can ignore it,
especially after seeing most of the rest of the country on my old CB750K.
I've wanted another ride for a while, and I'm thinking the KLR might be the
one.
So, my questions:
I can get one in Vancouver, BC, for about $4K US, plus whatever Washington
charges me in sales tax when I register it here. Is there any reason to
hold out for a used one for a savings of a few hundred bucks (and a speedo
in mph) in return for not having a warranty?
Once I get one, how much should I plan on spending to get it tour-ready?
Bags, windshield, doohickey, tires...
And, who can show a road-only rider some tricks on the dirt without kicking
my ass?
Thanks!
-Todd

klr650 handguards
Greets all,
I just bought a Suzuki SV650S, which I intend to outfit for sport touring. I'm looking to fit a pair of KLR650 handguards to it. It's cold in NY! I'm told I
need the handguards and the brake and clutch lever pivot bolts. My problem is that I don't know the part #s for these items. I also don't know the best place to
order them. If anybody could help me out with some info, I'd much appreciate it.
Needless to say, if anybody has a set of handguards they want to sell, I'm in the market.
Thanks,
-James
