Being a bearing salesman(horrible I know, but someone has to do it), I
unfortunately have to state that the Chinese quality has risen to a point
where buying SKF, NSK, or any other high quality bearing is moot for a wheel
bearing application. At high frequency vibe it might fail quicker, but I've
had the unfortunate task of trying to sell higher quality(read higher price)
bearings in a critical motor application and the rotten Chinese bearings
lasted just as long as the SKF and mine. The sad part is the Chinese bearings
only cost $.58! I wouldn't worry about the quality issue, but I still
wouldn't buy them on principal, but that's for another time
The key to buying bearings is to make sure they are new, and not some old
slag stock that they bought from a schlock house that went out of business or
from some 3rd tier supplier. If they have been repackaged in a no name box I
wouldn't buy them, it just tells me they've been handle too many times.
Also, do me a favor and don't buy Eastern European bearings, they make
Chinese bearings look like God's gift to man.
Any Power Transmission house in any city will have bearings for you, just
look in the yellow pages under bearings.
