nklr how to ruin a ride

Post by cosmoboj » Sun Aug 11, 2002 2:14 pm

greetings KLRmy, this is neither in the archives nor Chris Krok's FAQ page. It started about 4 weeks ago, a beautiful day riding some lonely back roads, all was good, permagrin. Then it hit me, out of the blue, not physically like one of those kamikaze bumble bees, but mentally, yet with the impact of something very real.It was the theme song from the Love Boat tv show.At first it just ran through my mind but later and this is difficult to admit, over the drone of the motor I heard myself sing "on the love boat, shiny and new". No I'm not going on or have ever been on a cruise ship, don't remember ever having watched the show and apparently that's the only line I know, but, it wont go away, it keeps coming back, taunting me.Every stinking ride it's waiting, whether it be at the end of a series of s- bends or where the gravel road winds down and the lake comes into view for the first time, moment of zen? Not me , I get shiny and bloody new. Any one else had this problem ? I've been told my problem is in the helmet. Bike is running great ......cosmo, a tortured man

It's time for a shock rebuild, and a box of Dramamine in the meantime. RM

The cure, my friend, is to purchase an Arrogant Worms CD. Then you'll have a dozen catchy, silly songs to choose from. ("Jesus' brother Bob, Jesus' brother Bob, nobody relative of the son of God. If only I'd be born, just a little sooner, I'd be more than the brother of God Junior...")

I spent an entire day of my vacation driving less than 40mph cuz any faster interfered with whistling the theme from the Andy Griffith Show. Tom A15 chapped lips but still grinnin'

This is very similar to the "hiccups". What you need is to scare yourself good on some harder 4wd roads or trails. Steve

Just be glad you're not riding a BMW. They get songs like Tchycovski's 4th symphony stuck in their heads. And Harley rider's...you remember that song "Rubber Ducky" from sesame street? It's sad really, but almost all of them have that song running through their heads while they're riding around. I'd be greatful your on a KLR. Brad

Cosmo, Things could be worse! Once in awhile I'm tormented with a tape loop of It's a Small World playing in my head. Then I get mad and start making up lyrics to that insipid tune, which only makes matters worse. My cure: "Busted flat in Baton Rouge, waiting fer a train Well I's feelin' nearly faded as my jeans..." __Arden
