ignition coil & spark plug gap - mods, anyone?

My third mod [right after foam air filter & synthetic oil] to most engines is ignition. I usually put on a higher voltage coil and open the plug gap. I find no mention of this in the Files or messages. Since electricity in standard air jumps a gap of about 0.001 inch per 1000 volts, the KLR coil outputs roughly 35K+ volts. If the coil puts out more voltage, a wider gap would work. And a bigger spark might help burn some of that excess fuel available from the enrichment mods to the carb. Has anyone tried a wider gap or a higher voltage coil? ATB Jerry
