mark's carb/airbox mod, good idea? (see link)

Hi All, Has anyone done this mod? http://www.angelfire.com/mo/motormark/mikescarbmod.html I spoke to a bike mechanic, he said he'd do it for me "if I wanted" but wasn't sure if it was a good idea. He mentioned that in the article it says that the guy doesn't need to choke for most starting and that the engine runs cooler and that this indicated the bike was running richer. With my somewhat limited knowledge I tend to agree. Now, richer isn't necissarily a bad thing. Acording to the article the fella is also adding more air. I wish he'd have posted a pic of a used spark plug. Opinions? Experiences? Thanks. Chris.
